ELAA has been working in partnership with the Department of Education and Training (DET) to support the early childhood sector navigate through the expansion of funded kindergarten programs across Victoria. It is an exciting time for early childhood providers but change always comes with challenges.

In this session, participants will be able to hear from representatives from the Wimmera South West DET Region share the processes they used to support services to implement 3-year-old Kindergarten reform. By using case studies, participants will get an insight into how providers have used modelling tools to meet the needs of children and families and to match what can be offered at the service, through: Increasing staff buy-in to changes, identifying capacity and working with communities on delivery options.

ELAA has recently released two new resources to support early childhood services with planning for their future. ModelWorks and BudgetWorks were developed in conjunction with the Department of Education and Training. This free session will give participants insight on how these resources can support services to think creatively about funded program model opportunities, how a service can utilise support agencies and resources to implement reform and emphasises the importance of adopting a systematic process for change management. Participants will be taken through the processes of change management as well as the process for planning and implementing a viable budget which include considering family and community needs, enrolments, legislative, regulatory and funding requirements, staffing and industrial obligations and capturing income and expenditure.
