Inclusion is not just what happens with children with a disability but also their families’ experiences and the experiences of all families and children in the setting. Successful inclusion is based on teacher and educator attitudes and approaches to pedagogy. Inclusion is about everything we do and everyone involved – the family, the child, the Early Childhood team, the community and specialists.

In this professional learning workshop we will share experiences and critically reflect as we explore and unpack inclusion together. This session is informed by the need for learning that is practical, relevant and reflective and will provide information and practical strategies on how to support children to become effective communicators and capable learners. The focus will be on examining our knowledge and skills and translating these into everyday practice with children and families in early learning settings to create inclusive environments that honour children’s passions and interests.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Working for a world where people with disability are equal citizens, Yooralla have been working with children with developmental delays and disability for almost 100 years. Yooralla employs over 2000 people across Victoria, supporting children, young people and adults with disability to live the life they choose. As such, they have developed resources and professional learning workshops that inform early years educators in taking a family-centred approach within services which are linked to the EYLF and the VEYLDF.
