About the Centre/Service Friend Street Kindergarten is a sessional kindergarten, run by a parent committee, offering a quality play-based learning program for 3 and 4 year olds run by qualified, highly experienced and dedicated teachers and educators. Our 3 year old group runs from 9-3 on Monday and Fridays. The spacious light-filled playroom overlooks the covered deck area and playground which offers a range of play spaces. There is room to run and ride, play equipment, opportunities to build motor skills and sheltered areas designed for quiet time or role playing games with a friend. Natural play spaces such as the dry creek bed, gardens, mud kitchen and sandpit encourage interactions not only with friends but with natural elements and animals such as insects and bird life promoting discussion and learning about sustainability. Specialist Music, P.E. and Yoga sessions also build the children’s physical, emotional and social skills. Description Staring in Term 1 (late January) 2025 we are looking for an experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic Diploma or Certificate 111 Qualified Educator for our 3 year old group who will be an active team member in our play based educational program. Preferably with some experience working in a sessional kindergarten environment. The successful applicant will have knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework and the National Early Years Learning Framework to work across the five learning outcomes with a current understanding of early childhood development. This is a part time position of 14 hours per week (11 hours contact with an unpaid half an hour lunch break on both days and 3 hours non-contact time) on Mondays and Fridays. Additional paid allowances include staff and quality improvement meetings. You will be part of a team which operates in a professional manner at all times and is committed to putting the development and education of children first. You will meet the requirements of DET Kindergarten Guide, the Education and Care Services National Law Act, the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the policies and procedures of the service. You will have
  • Excellent verbal communication skills when engaging with children and families whilst maintaining and promoting a strong sense of community and relationships
  • A focus on collaborative teamwork in the 3 year old group, staff and the committee
  • An ability to actively contribute to developing, documenting and implementing high quality, developmentally appropriate educational programs
  • An understanding of embedding the Victorian child safe standards, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and sustainable practices within the educational program and service
This position will commence in term 1 2025. You will be working as part of a team with an office manager and an experienced 3 and 4 year old teacher. We will begin interviewing before the closing date and welcome your interest in the role.
