About the Centre/Service Located on Manning Road in Malvern East, Ewing Kindergarten has been providing kindergarten services since 1946. It was born out of the community’s vision to provide the Malvern East community with an enriching social and educational environment for children. Work Days of the Role Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri
Hours of Work of the Role 26 hours per week
Description We are seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood educator to join our team in 2025 at Ewing Kindergarten as a co-educator in both of our 3-year-old kinder programs. This is an ongoing position working 26 hours per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with 22 children in each group. The objectives of the position are as follows:
  • The Interest/knowledge in educating children through nature, and particular interest in sustainability and Indigenous perspectives within a play-based program will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge and understanding of children’s development cognitively and socially.
  • Focus on teamwork across the whole Ewing Kindergarten team.
  • An ability to assist in developing, documenting and implementing high quality, developmentally appropriate education programs for kindergarten children in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • The ability to plan, work and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
Duties:
  • Work collaboratively with and support the Kindergarten Teacher.
  • Contribute to observations, planning and evaluation of children’s programs.
  • Create a positive, calm and welcoming environment to foster and support development.
  • Communicate positively and openly with children.
  • Provide physical care, assisting children in daily routines.
  • Respond to the emotional needs of the children.
  • Communicate with parents.

Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will require:
  • A Cert 3 or Diploma of Early Childhood (or equivalent as approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority – ACECQA) – essential.
  • An in-depth understanding of program development and implementation as well as behaviour guidance strategies and can work alongside others in this practice.
  • You understand your obligations under the Child Safe Standards and have a sound knowledge of Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and National Quality Standards (NQS)
  • Currently hold a WWC card, certifications including a National Police Check, First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management and a current Mandatory Reporting certificate.
