About the Centre/Service We run an inclusive program where all children are welcomed and valued for their unique contribution to the pre-school community. We believe in working together to solve problems, gain perspectives and reach shared goals. SMPS is committed to educating our children about the environment and sustainable living practices. We have been running our Bush Kinder program for the 4 year old groups once a week since 2013, at the Briars Park in Mt Martha for 3.5 hours per week. At SMPS, we strongly believe in the importance of nature and outside play in the child’s learning and development as children are natural learners. The dedicated and experienced team of staff and parents work collaboratively with children and families. We aim to provide a thoughtful and inclusive program in which children and families feel supported and represented. South Mornington Preschool is an independent community preschool, offering both 3 year old and 4 year old programs. We are operated by a parent/guardian Committee of Management. Parents are warmly welcomed at the preschool and their input is greatly valued across all areas of the preschool and to benefit the children. Our program focus is of a strong belief that the children are connected to the wider community and environment through everyday experiences and interactions. We run an inclusive program where all children, families and staff are welcome and valued for their unique contributions. We believe in working together to solve problems, gain perspectives and reach shared goals. In 2024 we proudly published our Reconciliation Action Plan which enhances our connection and partnership with the Bunurong People, the traditional owners of the land on which South Mornington Preschool sits. We believe that respect and kindness are the key to all relationships. We believe in following children’s natural urge to learn and understand out world through individualized and play based experiences.

Description South Mornington Preschool (SMPS) is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Certificate III or Diploma Educator to work with our Multi-Age 3 and 4 Year Old kinder group for lunch covers.  The successful applicant will have:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with their team members, the children, families and the Committee of Management.
  • Proven experience within a kindergarten environment and passionate about working within Early Childhood.
  • A sound knowledge of early childhood development and the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of a high quality educational program.
This role will comprise of 6 hours per week. It is a permanent part time position on a 12-month contract which will commence in Term 1, 2025. The successful applicant’s salary will be commensurate with their experience and qualifications, and in line with Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement 2020 (VECTEA).
Qualifications What we are looking for;
  • Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or ACECQA assessed qualifications
  • Working with Children Check and Police Check
  • Current First Aid Cert level 2 including CPR, Asthma, Anaphylaxis and Epipen Training
  • A genuine passion for Early Childhood Education
