Applicants are asked to address the following key selection criteria: 1. Child safety and active supervision Demonstrated commitment to child safety and wellbeing, including the ability to actively supervise children, identify and respond to risks, maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow all child-safe policies and procedures. 2. Supporting children’s learning and development Demonstrated ability to engage positively with children and support their learning, development and participation through play-based experiences, daily routines, transitions and group activities under the direction of the Kindergarten Teacher. 3. Observation and communication Demonstrated ability to observe children’s engagement, strengths, interests, development, behaviour and wellbeing, and communicate these observations clearly and professionally to the Kindergarten Teacher to inform planning and assessment. 4. Inclusive practice Demonstrated ability to support children with diverse developmental, communication, cultural, sensory, behavioural and learning needs and contribute to an inclusive environment in which every child is supported to participate and experience success. 5. Positive relationships teamwork and professional practice Demonstrated ability to build warm, responsive and respectful relationships with children, communicate professionally and sensitively with families, and work collaboratively as part of a team. This includes following agreed plans and reasonable directions, communicating openly and contributing to a consistent, positive and supportive kindergarten environment. 6. Working in a small school and kindergarten environment Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a small school and kindergarten community, where staff communicate closely, support one another and contribute across daily routines, transitions and whole-school activities while maintaining clear professional responsibilities. 7. Knowledge of early-childhood frameworks and responsibilities An understanding of, or willingness to develop knowledge of, the VEYLDF, National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard, Child Safe Standards, mandatory reporting requirements and relevant service policies and procedures.
