About the Centre/Service

Established in 1942, Lilydale Preschool is a community-managed, not-for-profit sessional kindergarten with a long history of supporting young children and families in the Lilydale community. We believe children should be children, with the time, space and freedom to explore, discover, develop friendships and learn at their own pace. Our play-based approach is guided by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the Australian Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), placing children’s interests, curiosity and individual strengths at the heart of their learning. Our welcoming indoor and outdoor environments provide opportunities for children to connect with nature, engage in meaningful play and develop confidence, independence, resilience and a strong sense of belonging. We value strong, respectful partnerships with families and recognise the important role that relationships, community and a sense of security play in children’s learning and wellbeing. As a community-managed service, Lilydale Preschool is supported by a volunteer Committee of Management. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, respected and supported to thrive. Child safety and wellbeing are central to our practice. Lilydale Preschool has zero tolerance for child abuse and is committed to protecting children from harm. We strive to provide a child-safe, inclusive and culturally safe environment where every child’s rights, identity and wellbeing are respected.
