About the Centre/Service

Clifton Street Children’s Centre (CSCC) is a not-for-profit, community-managed long day care and kindergarten located in the heart of Northcote, Melbourne. We provide high-quality early education and care for children aged 6 months to 5 years, with a strong commitment to accessibility, inclusion and community engagement. Our 81-place centre comprises four thoughtfully designed learning spaces and three outdoor yards. Located alongside expansive ovals and green spaces, our natural surroundings provide valuable opportunities to extend children’s learning, exploration and connection with the community. CSCC is proud to hold an Exceeding Rating under the National Quality Framework (NQF), reflecting our commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in early childhood education and care. Our Approach At CSCC, we foster a professional, inclusive and collaborative workplace where educators and staff are respected, supported and valued. We prioritise staff wellbeing and professional growth and encourage reflective practice, teamwork and open communication. Our experienced and diverse team builds strong, respectful relationships with children and families. We are passionate about play-based learning and intentional teaching, creating environments that respond to each child's strengths, interests, capabilities and cultural identity. We are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives meaningfully across our curriculum and practice, supporting children to develop an understanding and respect for Australia's history, cultures and First Peoples. Commitment to Child Safety At CSCC, the safety, wellbeing, participation and empowerment of children are central to everything we do. We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse and neglect and take all concerns about children's safety and wellbeing seriously. We recognise and uphold our legal and ethical responsibilities to identify, respond to and report concerns in accordance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. We are committed to creating a culturally safe, inclusive and respectful environment for every child, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disability and children with additional needs. We strive to ensure every child feels safe, heard, respected, included and valued, and that their rights and voices are recognised throughout their experience at CSCC.
