About the Centre/Service

Forrest Primary School and Early Years Centre is located approximately 35 kilometres south-east of Colac, within the beautiful Otway Ranges. The school has proudly served its rural community for 125 years, with student enrolments drawn from the surrounding areas of Barwon Downs, Gerangamete, Barramunga and the Forrest township. The Kindergarten is situated within the school grounds and provides its own dedicated, securely fenced outdoor play area and welcoming indoor learning spaces. The children regularly have opportunities to explore the wider school environment as part of their learning experiences, supporting their sense of belonging and fostering meaningful connections with school students and staff. The school is set within four hectares of well-maintained gardens and expansive grounds, offering a variety of active and passive play spaces. Facilities include an oval, tennis and basketball court, and a safe adventure playground, with ample opportunities for further development of play-based learning and environmental exploration areas. Forrest Primary School and Early Years Centre is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where the wellbeing and rights of every child are paramount. Our service complies with the Victorian Child Safe Standards, the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, and all relevant child safety policies and procedures. We are dedicated to fostering a culture of respect, active supervision, and shared responsibility to ensure every child feels safe, valued and heard. Each Friday, Kindergarten children join the junior classroom students to participate in our Forrest Kids Go Bush program. This program provides valuable opportunities for children to connect with nature, explore the natural environment and develop their understanding of the world around them through hands-on, play-based experiences in a safe, supportive and engaging setting.
