About the Centre/ServiceGreythorn Early Childhood Centre and Kindergarten is a highly sought after, community based, long day care centre and Kindergarten in North Balwyn for 91 children from 6 weeks old to school age. DescriptionWhat are you going to be doing?
You will be introducing our first year of funded 3-year-old kindergarten at our community centre starting in January 2022. We are excited about this new adventure and can’t wait to see what ideas you may have and can implement in the program. We want you to make this space your own and feel a sense of pride with what you can achieve. You will be responsible for creating the reputation of 3-year-old kindergarten at Greythorn.
What does this role look like?
In this role, you will be working closely with other educators in a collaborative manner striving for best practice, high quality care and education for a maximum group size of 22 children.
It’s a brand new role where we want to offer 12.5 hours a week of funded kinder-even though we only receive funding for 5 hours a week for the first year.
3YO will be offered 2.5 hours a day and children will need to attend a minimum of 2 days a week
We also want to grow our Educational Leader role so she is no longer fulltime working on the floor as well as trying to be Ed Leader.
We will employ an ECT to run our 3YO program as well as take on some of the diploma role in the 3-5 room in conjunction with our Ed Leader / Team Leader) and fulltime diploma educator.
We are offering 19.5 hours as ECT including 6 hours planning time and the rest paid as a diploma paid under the Children Services Award (above award opportunity after 6 months).
We anticipate that this will just be the first year – in 2023 we will increase hours to 15 hours a week and additionally introduce a second 4YO kinder teacher too so there is possibilities for growth for anyone we hire.

We are looking for a highly driven Bachelor qualified candidate, this could be a great opportunity for a graduate.
We are looking for someone to come on this journey with us and someone who is adaptable, as this is a changing permanent role.
