Casual Early Childhood Educators – Cert III & Diploma

  • Local government (council) owned and operated early childhood services.
  • Casual Certificate III - $39.16 per hour – Band 3A+25% + Super
  • Casual Diploma - $43.08 per hour – Band 4A+25% + Super

Yarra City Council currently has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Certificate III or Diploma Qualified - Early Childhood Educator to join our Children’s Services.

Starting as soon as possible, the successful applicant will commence their journey as a casual educator working across our 5 long day care services and 4 Kindergartens. There is also opportunity to work in our occasional care, After Care and Vacation Care service.

To be successfully appointed to this role you will be a Cert III or Diploma qualified early childhood educator who has an understanding and passion for educating young children.  You will ideally have experience working with all age groups from 0-5 years and understanding of the benefits of multi age, flexible setting. If you don’t have this experience, you must be excited and willing to learn as we will support any educators with the training and mentoring, they may need to be successful. Educators studying or upgrading their qualifications are welcome to apply.

You will have proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and understand the importance of critical reflection and sharing feedback.  Our services use educational programs use children’s emerging interests and ideas alongside educator initiated learning as a springboard for our intentional teaching opportunities.

We use progressive routines throughout the day and implement an indoor/outdoor program to respond to the needs of individual children.  As an educator you will have an understanding through a contemporary early childhood lens as to why these practices are so important. You will have a strong understanding of the approved early learning frameworks with demonstrated ability to embed the learning outcomes within your practices.

Yarra is a child safe organisation and as such you will understand the important role that educators play in protecting and advocating for children’s wellbeing.

Required:

  • a minimum of an ACECQA Approved Certificate III or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, (or equivalent)(or working towards)
  • Up to date First Aid, CPR, EpiPen and asthma management qualifications,
  • Valid Working with Children Check,
  • Team focussed approach,
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate responsive routines and programs guided by the approved learning frameworks,
  • Current mandatory reporting training, and
  • You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job.

Desired:

  • Experience and a passion to work with all age groups 0-5 years
  • Experience with Xplor or other online learning platform, and
  • Ability to demonstrate a competent level of English, both written and spoken.
