About the Centre/Service Tarralla Kindergarten is an independent, not for profit, community Kindergarten in East Ringwood, established in 1975. We provide programs for three 4yo groups and four 3yo groups. Our building is a lovely light filled space with a large outdoor play area which is located beside Gracedale oval and playground, and near the tennis club and walking tracks. Tarralla Kindergarten is a committee run kindergarten where committee and educators work closely together and value parent participation. Work Days of the Role Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Hours of Work of the Role 18.25 hrs (including 3.25 hrs non-contact time)
Description We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Certificate III co-educator to join our well established team. The role is to commence at the start of Term 1, 2022 to work with one of our four year old groups. The session times are Tuesday and Friday 9:00am till 2:30pm and Thursday 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Additional non-contact times to be negotiated. This is a part time position for 2021. The successful applicant will work with a group of 29 children and report to the teacher. You will be supported by the Director and Educational Leader, the teacher, co-educator and the committee of management. Skills and Competencies required:
  • An understanding and knowledge of early childhood development relevant to their level of qualification and position.
  • Ability to assist in the provision of a developmentally appropriate program for the children; in partnership with the Early Childhood Teacher and parents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Law and Regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents and professionals.
  • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with staff, other professionals, parents and the committee.
We are looking for applicants with demonstrated experience in play based programs, whose proficient relationship skills with children, parents & colleagues will add further value to this fantastic kindergarten. Good communication skills and a genuine love of children are essential. Attendance at staff meetings and undertaking professional development is an expectation of all staff.
Qualifications Applicants must have an approved Certificate III level Education and Care qualification or equivalent, or Diploma. First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training are also required, as well as a WWCC and Child Protection training. All employees must demonstrate a commitment to child safety and be aware of their responsibilities in this area. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the VEYLDF, the National Quality Standard and current regulations.
