About the Centre/Service We are a small (35 children), not for profit, community centre with a dedicated parent committee. We are rated as exceeding the NQS which is a reflection of our wonderful, long-standing team of educators. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to children’s learning and place great emphasis on exploring the natural environment.

Role descriptionThe director’s role is to develop and maintain high quality and dynamic childcare in the Centre which facilitates the development, nurturing and care of children aged 0-6 years.The director will work with, report to, and receive support from the parent committee.
Key responsibilitiesWorkplace culture: Champion a workplace that supports diversity, inclusion and a positive culture for staff, families and children. Develop and maintain a positive family-oriented work environment. Support a learning culture that encourages staff development. Early childhood development: Oversee planning and implementation of high quality, developmentally appropriate and stimulating programs, tailored to the needs of the children at the centre. Maintain current professional knowledge of child development and education. Maintaining relationships: Model respectful and courteous relationships with all people involved with the Centre. Ensure effective communication with parents and staff regarding their children’s welfare and development. Create an environment where constructive feedback is encouraged and responded to. Managing the centre: Maintain the excellent rating of the centre under the ACECQA National Quality Standard. Ensure compliance with national and state regulations particularly relating to employment, running an early childhood education provider, and working with children. Work collaboratively with the Committee of Management to run and continuously improve the Centre, including implementing appropriate financial systems and procedures in consultation with the Committee. Promote and regularly review the Centre’s policies to ensure they comply with regulations, reflect the Centre’s philosophy and are fit-for-purpose. Qualifications To qualify for this role you must hold:
- a current Working with Children Check;
- current First Aid Certificate and Asthma & Anaphylaxis certificates;
- minimum ACECQA approved Diploma Qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent);
- a working understanding of the national quality standard for early childhood education.
Additional Requirements We are looking for candidates with prior director or other management experience.
