About the Centre/Service Our kindergarten is located in a quiet, residential street in Bentleigh East and has been a part of the local community for over 50 years. Children who attend a GEKA kindergarten are engaged in a play-based curriculum which evolves from the children’s interests. Both indoor and outdoor activities and experiences are carefully planned to enable each child to work towards their next step in learning.

Description Glen Eira Kindergarten Association are currently seeking a Diploma qualified educator to join the team at GEKA Glover St! GEKA is a not for profit Early Years Management organisation based in the municipality of Glen Eira. We manage and support eleven community kindergartens in delivering the highest standard of professionalism, responsive management and inclusive, play based early years education. About the role: GEKA are seeking an enthusiastic and confident Early Childhood Educator (Diploma) to work in the 4 year old Echidna Group and 3 year old Platypus Group at GEKA Glover St Kindergarten, located in Bentleigh East. Shifts will operate on Mondays and Tuesdays (8am - 4.30pm), Wednesdays (9am - 11.45am) and Thursdays (8am - 2.45pm). The position totals 23.75 hours per week and is a fixed term position to cover a staff member who is taking extended leaving, ending at the end of term 3 - with the possibility to be extended should the staff member extend her leave. These hours can also be supplemented with hours on our relief list, should you be looking for additional hours. To be eligible to apply for a position at GEKA, you need to have the following:
  • A minimum of Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent
  • A sound knowledge of current best practice that is reflective of the approved National Quality Framework
  • Ability to show initiative
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to work in a team to deliver high quality education
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage with others
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID003 or HLTAID004), CPR, Child Protection and Anaphylaxis (Asthma qualification highly desirable but not compulsory)
  • Current Working With Children Check or VIT Registration
