About the Centre/Service Acacia Fitzroy Creche is a not-for-profit community based centre located in Fitzroy. We are an integrated Long Day Care and Kindergarten service. We pride ourselves on our commitment to the inclusion of all children and to enhance all children's wellbeing so they can become confident and independent learners. Our innovative educational program is delivered as an indoor/outdoor program which focusses on children learning through play and inquiry-based learning. Our team of educators are passionate and very supportive of each other including new team members.

Description We are seeking a passionate 3-year-old Kindergarten Teacher.  with a Bachelor of Early Childhood (or equivalent).  The successful candidate must have a commitment to high quality practice and be able to plan, implement and maintain a program which reflects our Centres educational philosophy.  The candidate must also have to show an ability to provide an inclusive program, be flexible, innovative and have creative vision. An ability to demonstrate a high level of understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS) is essential. The ongoing position is for 15-25 hours per week, with educational leadership responsibilities. The successful applicant will be remunerated above the conditions of the Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2010. In addition, they will be offered RDOs, additional weekly planning time, educational leader planning time, extensive professional development and all other entitlements offered by Acacia. The successful candidate will work in partnership with all other kindergarten teacher across Acacia Children’s Centres and the leadership team at Fitzroy. The candidate will be positioned in the 3-year-old Kindergarten room and be responsible of educational program and supporting the team of educators in the educational leadership role The focus areas will be:
  • Participating in professional conversations within the leadership team and with co-workers
  • Reviewing current curriculum development and documentation practices
  • Reflecting on current practices and comparing to current research and best practice guidelines
  • Engaging in an inquiry-based project with colleagues, families and children
  1. An approved Early Childhood Teacher Degree (equivalent or greater)
  2. Current Working with Children Check (or VIT registration), anaphylaxis, asthma, first aid and CPR training
  3. Demonstrated experience working in Early Childhood services taking full responsibility for the planning, implementation and assessment of the program
  4. Demonstrated experience with leading, motivating and mentoring a team of Early Childhood professionals
  5. Thorough understanding of pedagogy, child development and curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment theories and the link they hold with the EYLF, VEYDLF and VELS
  6. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
