Description The Centre Clifton Street Children’s Centre is a community run centre, offering childcare programs and integrated kindergarten. Our premises are council owned and located in a quiet area of Northcote surrounded by green and open spaces. At Clifton Street CC we provide children and families a warm, safe, caring and educational environment that supports children’s learning and development. We passionately believe in the importance of Early Childhood Education and advocate for the rights of children. We are dedicated to providing high quality care and education programs for children, which are accessible and affordable. These programs are sensitive to, and reflect the diverse and changing needs of the children, families and staff within the centre as well as the broader community and the early childhood field. Clifton Street CC has been accredited by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) with a rating of “exceeding” in all seven national quality standards. Centre Director Role We are seeking a passionate and motivated Director who is community minded, and can deliver high quality of care within our centre to work in a full-time capacity. You will have a the responsibility of managing operation of the centre and provide your expertise in strategic and operational planning. You will play an integral part in the development and implementation of centre initiatives and improvements for effective delivery of all centre programs. As the person in charge of the day-to-day running of the centre, you will need to be an independent and critical thinker, with great communication skills and problem-solving abilities. You are passionate about creating a centre that acknowledges children and their families and responds and supports children’s growth and development. You will provide support, encouragement and motivation to all educators and build trusting and warm relationships with the wider community. You must have the ability to inspire and mentor a diverse team of passionate educators to help them to achieve their personal and professional best. As a leader of the centre, you must adopt an adaptable, supportive and inclusive leadership style.   • Manage the overall functioning of the centre, ensuring efficient and effective implementation of the Centre’s policies and compliance with regulations, conditions of funding and service agreements.
  • Lead, manage and motivate a team of 36 members
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the centre and ensure it complies with health, educational, safety, licencing regulations and quality improvement.
  • Supervise the duties of centre-based staff and ensure that appropriate standards in programming and care are maintained.
  • Conduct Centre-based staff meetings and attend other relevant meetings and in-service courses.
  • Ensure records are completed and maintained in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Maintain required staffing ratios, including management of staff leave and staff recruitment, ensuring continuity of staff rostering
  • Liaise with local council regarding building maintenance, leasing and Kindergarten registration.
  • Review and implement centre policies, QIP and Inclusion Support
  • Long service leave reporting
  • Attending monthly committee meetings
  • Reporting to the committee
  • Preparation of a centre budget.
Desirable
  • A good understanding of CCS and QiKids Software
  • A good understanding of the kindergarten funding program
  • Familiar with KIMS (Kindergarten Information Management System
Qualifications
  • A Diploma in Children’s Services or Early Childhood degree as approved by ACECQA.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications
  • A current Working with Children Check and Child Protection Certificate
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Familiar with National Quality Frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with staff, families and        children
  • Computer literacy and the ability to use Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Excel
  • In -depth knowledge and understanding of the regulations and legislation
  • Managing a financially viable service by achieving and maintaining occupancy while delivering quality early education and care
