About the Centre/Service Annie Dennis Children’s Centre is a not for profit community based early childhood education and care service providing quality childcare and kindergarten located in the heart of Northcote. Annie Dennis Children’s Centre has an excellent reputation and was assessed in 2018 as ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standards’. The historic building is surrounded by large outdoor environments that provide ample space for all children to explore and engage within a natural environment. Our environments provide children with opportunities to develop through a play based program with a mix of child-initiated, guided and adult-led learning activities based on the children’s emerging interests as well as those that are connected to our community and environment. We have a strong emphasis on supporting and developing relationships between the child, family, educators and the wider community. The staff team are passionate about education and care of children and seeks a like minded teacher to provide a high quality program for our integrated 3 year old kindergarten group (18 children per day). We are a triple unit early childhood education and care service offering integrated kindergarten to our community. In addition to the multi age 3-year old kindergarten program, we have one 4 year old integrated kindergarten program and one multi age 3 - 4 year old kindergarten program integrated with long day care, as well long day care for children aged from 6 months of age.
Work Days of the Role Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Hours of Work of the Role 22.5 hours per week (15 hrs contact 7.5 hrs non contact)
Description The successful applicant will be well versed in the Victorian Early years Learning and Development Framework and National Quality Standards to implement a nurturing and innovative play based program to inspire and educate our integrated 3 year old kindergarten children. The successful applicant will work alongside a FT diploma qualified educator and one other educator The successful applicant will:
  • Be experienced (minimum 1 year delivering a 3 year old kindergarten program)
  • Be enthusiastic and committed to the children, families, and ongoing success of our service
  • Be able to lead by example and be one of the team
  • Be passionate about Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Work in a professional manner and have a strong work ethic
  • Have a strong understanding of child development
  • Be flexible, caring , reliable, respectful, positive, approachable and supportive
  • Have the ability to plan creative individual and group curricula
  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to developing a curricula with other educators and the team
  • Be able to undertake administrative functions as required
  • Be able to collaborate and listen within the team and share knowledge
  • Be willing to work in a team environment providing day-to-day support, direction and leadership to their co-worker/s
  • Able to form strong and rewarding relationships with the children and work in partnership with families, the team, with management and the community
  • be committed to continuous improvement
  • Conduct themselves professionally at all times according to relevant Laws and Acts
Qualifications All applicants must have the following:
  • Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent as recognsied by ACECQA)
  • VIT registration
  • Current First Aid (including CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma management)
  • Child Safe training (DEECD online module as a minimum)
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Be able to develop, plan and implement the program
  • A strong understanding and the capacity to work with children with diverse range of abilities
  • A sound understanding of play-based pedagogy
  • Have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills

  • Skills to document children’s learning and development using various styles of documentation
