About the Centre/Service South Mornington Preschool is located in Mornington. We are a parent managed, not-for-profit organisation, providing a safe, flexible and stimulating environment for children to develop and grow whilst establishing the foundations for a seamless transition to primary education. Parents are warmly welcomed at the preschool and their input is greatly valued across all areas of the pre-school. We believe Pre-school is a community and each section of our community works together for the benefit of the children. We offer a sessional kindergarten experience, with two 3/4 multi-age groups and one 3-year-old group. We have a lovely large outdoor area, which includes a vegetable patch, outdoor play kitchen, mud pit, fairy garden, two sandpits, cubby house, stage and numerous climbing frames and other play equipment. We run an inclusive program where all children are welcomed and valued for their unique contribution to the pre-school community. We believe in working together to solve problems, gain understanding and in reaching best outcomes. SMPS is committed to educating our children about the environment and sustainable living practices. We have been running our Bush Kinder program for the 4-year-old groups once a week since 2013, at the Briars Park in Mt Martha for 3.5 hours per week. At SMPS, we believe in the importance of nature and outside play in the child’s learning and development as children are natural learners. The dedicated and experienced team of staff and parents work collaboratively with children and families, and provide thoughtful planning and consistent effort to deliver the highest level of nurturing and support to the SMPS programs.

Description South Mornington Preschool (SMPS) has a fantastic opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Early Childhood Teacher for one of our 4-year-old kinder groups, including an established bush kinder program. We require that the candidate is also qualified as an Educational Leader to inspire, motivate, affirm and challenge and extend the practice of the Educators. The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with their team members, the children, the Committee of Management, parents, and other key stakeholders. They will have proven skills and similar experience in leading, developing, documenting and implementing a high quality, developmentally appropriate program for kindergarten children. This role will comprise of 28 hours per week. The role will report to the SMPS Association Committee of Management. It is a permanent part time position on a 12-month contract, with the provision for ongoing after 12 months and will commence in Term 1, 2022. The successful applicant’s salary will be commensurate with their experience and qualifications, and in line with Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement 2020 (VECTEA).
Qualifications What we are looking for; Bachelor of Teaching/ Education (Early Childhood) or ACECQA assessed qualifications. Working with Children Check Police check and VIT registrations (both on commencement of employment and at time of licence renewal) Current First Aid Cert level 2 including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Epipen Training A genuine passion for early childhood education Must have experience leading an education team Must hold or be covered by a Supervisor Certificate or must be eligible to be a Nominated Supervisor of a service.
