About the Centre/Service
Wahroonga Pre-School is known as St Helena’s hidden gem. It is an inclusive not-for-profit sessional kinder providing quality 3 and 4 year old kindergarten programs, operated by a motivated and committed Parent Committee of Management. It is set in natural surrounds next to Anthony Beale Reserve in Greensborough. The kindergarten is full of character and life with a large outdoor area that the children love to explore. Our program is play based and utilises a combination of both indoor and outdoor based programs with a focus on supporting and extending the children's interests, confidence, curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. We are committed to providing a child safe environment and all staff must demonstrate their ongoing responsibility to ensuring child safety. Wahroonga Pre-School was last assessed in 2016 as 'Exceeding the National Quality Standards'. The preschool prides itself on providing a high quality standard of education and care and actively seek opportunities for continual improvement. In 2022 Wahroonga Pre-School is excited to introduce a rotational program of long days across Tues, Wed and Thurs. Rotational Program times 8.30am-4pm Tues/ Wed/ Thurs - 21 hrs plus non-contact time.
We are looking for an Early Childhood Teacher and Nominated Supervisor who is passionate about providing high quality education in a community kinder. As a kindergarten teacher you will provide an innovative, high quality early education and care program that supports the health and well-being for children's learning and development. The successful candidate must work well with a team and clearly demonstrate leadership and willingness to mentor staff. You will be responsible for leading observations, programming and evaluation, building positive relationships with the children and families and report to the Committee of Management. You must have a sound understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning & Development Framework and the National Quality Framework, Educational and Care Services Laws and Regulations. Experience in a similar position favourable.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE WILL INITIALLY BE OFFERED ON A 12 MTH CONTRACT BASIS TO THE END OF 2022, WITH A VIEW TO PERMANENT FROM 2023
The successful Applicant will have:
- A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA recognized equivalent);
- Early Childhood VIT registration;
- Current first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management training;
- Sound working knowledge Victorian Early Years Learning & Development Framework and Child Safety Standards.
Proven experience teaching for a neurodiverse cohort with varying needs will be highly regarded.
