About the Centre/Service For over 85 years, Robina Scott Kindergarten has enriched the lives of many local children in Williamstown and the Hobsons Bay Community. A not-for-profit community run kinder, we operate two beautiful campuses for 3 and 4 yr old sessional kindergarten in Williamstown, both of which are rated Exceeding by ACECQA. We provide high quality education and care to over 150 children in the local community and are a highly sought-after kindergarten. We pride ourselves on our connection to the local community and can regularly be seen on excursions around the local area. Work Days of the Role Thursday and Friday
Hours of Work of the Role 17.25 hours per week (session hours 6 hrs each day)
Description This position is a maternity leave position for Term 3, 2021. An earlier start may be available. The successful applicant will share the teaching of this group with another ECT who teaches on Tuesdays. Robina Scott Kindergarten is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher who believes that the first few years of early education are fundamental in preparing a child with the skills necessary to becoming a lifelong learner. The applicant’s passion for early childhood education and ability to help each child discover their full potential, will put them in good stead for this position. The successful applicant will develop an environment of positive and trusting relationships with the children, other teachers and educators, parents, center director and other stakeholders. They will be highly organised and have an outstanding knowledge of early childhood education with demonstrated ability to develop, lead, document and implement a high quality, developmentally appropriate program for kindergarten children that will ensure we continue to exceed the national standards.
  • Qualifications suitable for an Early Childhood Teacher under the Education and Care Services National Law. Education and Care Services National Regulations and the DET Kindergarten Funding Guide
  • Be registered as an Early Childhood Teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, and continue to renew/maintain the registration during the course of employment
  • Must be able to fill the position of Nominated Supervisor or be nominated as a person in a leadership position or with responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the service in accordance with the Regulations if required by the Approved Provider
  • Hold a current
    • approved First Aid qualifications covering first aid and emergency management of asthma and anaphylaxis, recognised by ACECQA
    • Working with Children Check
    • Police check

Additional Requirements • Have a sound understanding and knowledge of early childhood development and education • Have a sound understanding and knowledge of legislation, regulations and standards, including Child Safe Standards governing the operation of children’s services • Ability to develop, document and implement a high quality, developmentally appropriate education program for kindergarten children in consultation with relevant stakeholders • The ability to plan, work and manage time effectively with minimal supervision • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with children, the committee of management (employer), parents, other staff and professionals • Ability to work in a cooperative, flexible and professional manner with children, parents, staff and committee of management • Well-developed leadership and self-motivation skills • Ability to ensure confidentiality of information
