About the Centre/Service We are a not-for-profit community-run kindergarten, providing care and education to children aged from 3 to 6 years. We are located in the heart of Bittern. Bittern Preschool is a professional work environment where our staff and educators are respected, valued and we recognise the importance of all our employees’ health and well-being. We pride ourselves in our NQF Exceeding Rating. Educators are offered award pay and conditions (VECTEA Award 2016), are provided with professional development opportunities, as well as mentoring. Bittern preschool has places for 66 children across three groups. We are proud of our diverse, professional team who encourage strong, open relationships with families. Families are an integral part of our centre community and their contribution and collaboration is extremely valued and believe it is essential to work in partnership with families. Our programs are centred on play-based learning and intentional teaching, while creating learning environments that are responsive to all children's strengths, skills and interests. Description This position is for 15 hours per week on a rotating roster Are you looking for the opportunity to work in a high-quality not-for-profit service? An exciting opportunity has come up to join the education team at Bittern Preschool as an Early Childhood Educator. Candidates for the role should be passionate about early childhood development, demonstrate open and transparent communication skills in building respectful relationships with children, families and educators. Candidates should also be strong in using their knowledge and skills to support a program that challenges and enhances the early education of all children. We are looking for someone who meets the following criteria:
  • Certificate III or diploma
  • Sound, practical working knowledge and implementation of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Current First Aid Certificate/Asthma & Anaphylaxis certificates
  • Current WWCC
  • Current child safety training – Mandatory reporting and other obligations
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to engage in critical reflection of performance and practice
