About the Centre/Service Based in Moonee Valley City Council, working within the Family and Children's Services team.
Description This position is pivotal within the Maternal and Child Health Team in the Family and Children’s Services Department of Moonee Valley City Council. The position reports to the Team Leader Maternal and Child Health Clinical Services and works in partnership to provide support services that enhance education, health and wellbeing outcomes for children, and their families within Moonee Valley. Services within the department include Early Learning & Care, Kindergarten Services, Preschool Field Officer, Kindergarten Central Enrolment, Maternal and Child Health and Family Services, Supported Playgroups and Community Playgroups. The Department is structured in alignment with three key specialisations: Service Delivery, Education and Planning and Health and Family Wellbeing. The Family Strengthening Worker will deliver services to families of children aged 0-6 years, including New Parent Groups and the Sleep and Settling Program funded by the Department of Health (DH). This role is part of a multidisciplinary team delivering responsive services to the community. This role actively contributes to achieving Council goals outlined in MV2040 through collaboration with stakeholders, a strong and constant focus on customer service, community engagement, continuous improvement, innovation, and supporting and developing an engaged, skilled and professional workforce.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in social science, early childhood services or social work. Additional qualification in Pre and Post-natal Family Support desirable.
  • Relevant experience in working with families, young children and facilitating parenting programs.
  • Knowledge of local government and Council processes and procedures would be well regarded.
  • Knowledge of CDIS, with the ability to acquire new computer software systems.
