About the Centre/Service We are a friendly, caring and well respected community pre-school established in 1947 in the peaceful and leafy setting of Smart St Reserve, Hawthorn. We have two groups of 4-year-olds (Red Kangaroos and Grey Kangaroos) and one group of 3-year-olds (Green Joeys). We are offering an additional 3-year-old group (Yellow Joeys) in 2022 due to a new renovation of our wonderful centre and the new kinder funding program. Our play-based learning program strives to ignite joy, curiosity, persistence and resilience in our children. WHPS is committed to providing a child safe environment. WHPS has zero tolerance to child abuse and actively seek a person who supports child safe practices.
Work Days of the Role Monday and Wednesday
Hours of Work of the Role Total 6 hours per week (4 hrs contact | 2 hrs non-contact)
Description About The Role As a Lunch Cover Teacher at WHPS, you support the programs and practices that are responsive to our children's needs and aligned with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, and National Quality Standards and Regulations. You are enthusiastic and possess a natural affinity with children, and ensure a safe, quality program that motivates children to learn. You are part of our supportive culture and work with guidance from the Teachers and Educators you will be covering, as well as our Director who supports your professional development and growth. You inspire, motivate and collaborate with the Teachers and Educators that you work with. Responsibilities
  • To work cooperatively and professionally as a member of a team, and support the high-quality educational program for the children
  • To communicate effectively with children, committee, parents, staff and other professionals in a cooperative and professional manner
  • To exceed the requirements of the relevant Children’s Services Regulations and Children’s Services Act and all centre policies and procedures
  • To have an in-depth understanding and adherence to our Pre-school Policies + Procedures

  • Part-time hours – Total 6 hours per week (4 hrs contact | 2 hrs non-contact) across Monday and Wednesday

Qualifications The following is essential for this position:
  • Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or equivalent (as approved ACECQA
  • A clear understanding of following a curriculum
  • A high level of initiative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Anaphylaxis Certificate
  • Current Asthma Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Current VIT Registration
  • 2 Professional Referees
