About the Centre/Service Seawinds Early Learning Centre operates a Long Day Program and Community Kindergarten out of the Seawinds Community Hub. We are very proud of our quality programs that facilitate learning through play, tailored to meet each child’s needs. We provide an environment that enables children and their families to flourish in a nurturing, supportive and education-based centre led by energetic, committed and knowledgeable Teachers and Educators.

Description We are seeking a Kindergarten Assistant to work in our 4 year old Kindergarten room. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Kindergarten Teacher, other colleagues and visiting specialists to deliver our belief that 'every child can successfully learn and grow'. In this role you will assist in developing an educational program which is appropriate to the individual needs and interests of the children. We offer a supportive and nurturing environment for our children, their families and our team of dedicated Educators. This is a 12 month contract concluding at the end of Term 4 with the potential to lead to an ongoing position. The successful candidate will have:

  • Be open to learning new approaches and methodologies, particularly in relation to the Capel Sound Children’s Project, which applies the Abecedarian approach; this includes high quality education programs based on the premises: child-centred, play-based, promotion of literacy and language development.  Adult-child interactions are important, as is the daily application of enriched care-giving, conversational reading, and learning games.

Additional Requirements • A sound understanding and knowledge of early childhood development and education. • The ability to assist in assessing, documenting, monitoring and developing each child’s progress, with family involvement. • Ability to plan, work and manage time effectively. Please note: We will be interviewing for this position on 15th January 2021.
