About the Centre/Service Belford Oaks is a purpose-built, not-for-profit, community-based centre, which is registered for 35 children each day. We are situated amongst oak trees, which is fundamental to our name and central to the local community. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach developed by Loris Malaguzzi, to children’s learning and through this approach we understand that children use many different ways to express their thoughts and creativity. The Educators at Belford Oaks recognise the environment as the third teacher and place great emphasis on exploring the natural environment; this is evident in the educational setting we create for the children especially the outdoor play spaces.
