About the Centre/Service The Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is a small 40-place, not-for-profit, community-based centre located in Balaclava. The centre has been in operation since 1975 . Parking is no problem and we are just a stone’s throw away from Balaclava train station, a bus stop on Hotham St and trams on nearby Carlisle Street. The Avenue is a “home away from home” for children, families and educators.

Description THE AVENUE CHILDREN'S CENTRE INCORPORATED  Kindergarten Teacher Job Advertisement - May 2020 The Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is currently looking for an additional Kindergarten teacher to join our team. Working alongside another Kindergarten teacher and diploma qualified educator, the successful applicant will be responsible for up to twenty 3-5 year old children in our Kinder room. The position offers above award wages, a monthly RDO, paid annual, sick leave and public holidays. About our Centre: The Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is a small, not-for-profit community run childcare centre located in a quiet residential street in Balaclava. The Centre only offers 40 places across three rooms Babies (0-2 years), Toddlers (2-3 years) and Kindergarten (3-5 years) and is open from 7:30am – 6:00pm for 50 weeks of the year. The Avenue is managed by a supportive committee of parents dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all children and staff and operates under stable financial governance. We have a strong and proud history of staff retention which the Centre prides itself on and there is a substantial professional development fund provided for individual staff growth. We have maintained all of our staff through the Covid-19 pandemic. About the Role: A rare opportunity has become available for a full time Kindergarten Teacher working alongside another Kindergarten Teacher and Diploma Qualified Educator for up to twenty 3-5 year old Kindergarten children. The weekly program is based on the interests of children with daily activities and experiences planned to extend their learning. Additionally weekly non-contact time for planning is provided for each of the early childhood teachers, RDOs and above award salary. About Successful Applicant: As a small centre we are seeking a team player with great communication skills and the ability to be flexible and show initiative. Whilst an experienced early childhood teacher is preferred, we welcome new graduates to also apply. To be eligible for this position you must be able to work a full time 40 hour week inclusive of one RDO per month.
