About the Centre/Service
Aurora Early Intervention program is a statewide Department of Education & Training service for young deaf children aged 0 to 6 and their families. Aurora provides regular home based support from collaborative teams which include teachers of the deaf, educational psychologists, social workers, speech pathologists and deaf educators. Aurora Early Intervention programs provide tailored inclusion support in state-wide kindergartens and child care facilities.
A bilingual philosophy underpins our program and we believe the provision of both spoken and signed languages are integral to the development of young deaf children’s early communication and language skills. The development of listening skills is an important feature of our program.
