19 FebOpportunities to give feedback on new Children’s Services Regs

Posted on 19 Feb 2020

New Children’s Services Regulations are being made in Victoria to support recent amendments to the Children’s Services Act 1996 so both are consistent with the National Quality Framework. Children’s services stakeholders have a number of options to provide their feedback on the proposed new regulations.

The current Children’s Services Regulations expire 18 May 2020. The updated Regulations will include proposed changes to the licence types, staffing (qualifications and ratios) and premises requirements for some new children’s services.

The proposed new Regulations and a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) were released for public consultation on Monday, 17 February 2020.

Consultation options

Face-to-face consultation sessions will be held across Victoria from Monday 24 February to Monday 2 March 2020. You can also complete a survey or submit a written response via the Victorian Department of Education and Training website. To register for a session, complete a survey or provide a written submission, visit Engage Victoria. Please note: the consultation period ends at midnight on 17 March 2020.

The new regulations are intended to come into effect on 17 May 2020 together with the Children’s Services Amendment Act 2019.
