An update received from the Victorian Deputy Secretary (Early Childhood Education) on Friday 22 May has confirmed Bush Kinder programs can resume. This follows updated advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer and Department of Health and Human Services which states: “Where kindergarten or early years classes are routinely conducted indoors or outdoors (e.g. a bush kinder) as part of an agreed program of early years education, they can continue to occur and there is no gathering limit to be applied to the number of children.”

The advice is effective as of 22 May.

The Deputy Secretary did note that “excursions outside of this normal program of education are currently not recommended, other than to local parks” while also encouraging services to welcome back families that wish to attend and to also encourage ” families to come back on-site to receive their kindergarten program”.
