30 MarConsultations on National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children

Posted on 30 Mar 2021

SNAICC – National Voice for our Children currently is consulting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities, members of Aboriginal community-controlled organisations (ACCOs), and other key stakeholders to inform the next (successor) plan to the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children (2009-2020). The successor plan aims to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families and communities in relation to child protection and out-of-home care.

The plan will align with the Closing the Gap target: to reduce the numbers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care by 45% within the next 10 years, by 2031.

There are a number of ways to get involved:

  • a 15 minute online survey (click here) which closes by Sunday 18 April
  • written submissions are also welcome by emailing solomon@snaicc.org.au by Sunday 18 April
  • half-day knowledge circles hosted across Australia with attendance extended through invitation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations.

ELAA welcomes your views. Please also feel free to make contact with Lisa Minchin, Specialist  – Advocacy Solutions by emailing LMinchin@elaa.org.au with your feedback about a strong multifaceted national plan that works for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families across Australia
