Get the latest from ELAA’s CEO about new resources under development to help Victorian services with the rollout of funded three-year-old kindergarten plus an update on the renegotiation of the VECTEA.

Dear members and supporters

Welcome to the final eNews for winter! Spring is on the way and so are some major projects at ELAA that will positively impact our sector by early next year.

With enrolment applications for Victoria’s funded three-year-old kindergarten program already beginning to be received by services in the first rollout areas, the three-year-old kindergarten expansion project is picking up speed. We’re busy developing new resources that will help early years services in Victoria adapt to the roll-out of funded three-year-0ld kinder across the state. We’re building timetabling models that will clearly illustrate how services can integrate a three-year-old program into their offering and we’ll be developing answers to key operational questions such as “How many extra staff will I need?” and “How can I deliver multiple programs in the one building?”. We’re also working on integrating a three-year-0ld program into our existing budget template so services can model and track vital financial data for both three and four-year-old programs. If you have any ideas for other resources that could help your service with the three-year-old roll-out please don’t hesitate to contact our ELAA Kindergarten Expansion Support Lead, Andre Jack at ajack@elaa.org.au

Secondly, our application with the Fair Work Commission to seek a variation to the Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement (VECTEA) Order has been lodged.  This variation sought to ensure the Fair Work Authorisation’s scope is consistent with the current VECTEA (2016).  On receipt of the varied order we will provide information on next steps and timelines including the notice of employee representational rights.  ELAA will continue to gather member input throughout the VECTEA negotiation process via our I.R Reference Group, with regular updates to be provided in e-news.

Sincerely

David Worland
