16 JunELAA ramps up workforce advocacy

Posted on 16 Jun 2021

ELAA has joined with Community Child Care (CCC) and Community Early Learning Australia (CELA) to jointly advocate for urgent measures to stem workforce shortages, as well as medium and longer-term measures to attract, develop and retain the early childhood workforce.

To inform the National Workforce Strategy, we have provided a submission to ACECQA and met with ACECQA officers. We are advocating for immediate measures, including attraction and retention payments and investment in workforce wellbeing, as well as focusing on wages and conditions and longer term measures to attract and develop the workforce. Victoria’s early childhood education workforce strategy is under development – ELAA will be sending a survey soon to gather your views. You may also wish to visit the Victorian Government policy paper Working Together to Build Victoria’s Early Childhood Education Workforce  to provide your feedback directly.
