Posted on 27 Aug 2019

The first enrolments for Victoria’s funded three-year-old kindergarten program were received in mid-August with Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, marking the milestone at Marang Kindergarten in Stawell recently.

Children from Buloke, Hindmarsh, Northern Grampians, South Gippsland, Strathbogie and Yarriambiack local government areas will be among the first to attend funded three-year-old kinder – an Australian first.

The program will then expand across Victorian with 15 more local government areas joining the scheme in 2021 with all Victorian children having access to the five hours of funded kindergarten by 2022. It is anticipated all children will have access to a 15-hour funded program by 2029.

Andre Jack has been engaged by Early Learning Association of Australia (ELAA) to work with the Department of Education and Training (DET) to support the implementation of the roll out for three-year-old kindergarten funding. Andre is very interested to touch base with services, to assist with any queries or concerns, problem solve challenges and be able to address your points of view with the Department of Education and Training. She will be contacting services involved in the 2020 and 2021 roll out in the coming weeks as an opportunity for you to ask questions and share information.

In the meantime, if Andre can provide any assistance please do not hesitate to contact her on 03 9411 4115 or at ajack@elaa.org.au
