05 FebFree professional learning opportunity – support the learning of young children with disabilities and/or developmental delays

Posted on 05 Feb 2019

Applications for cohort 1 close 18 February.

Early childhood educators are encouraged to participate in the FREE Early ABLES Champions professional learning opportunity. The opportunity is for educators who have interest, knowledge and/or experience with the Early ABLES tool, or who would like to develop skills in this area, to promote its implementation through their teams and networks
Each potential Early ABLES Champion, nominated and approved by their Director/approved service provider, should submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), together with a nominated ‘team’ to support their professional learning. The ‘Team around the Educator’ are other early childhood professionals who support the educator to provide a high quality learning and care program for young children (for example, educational leaders, Directors, approved service providers, Pre School Field Officers, inclusion professionals (IPs) or early childhood intervention professionals). These professionals will also have an opportunity to develop knowledge of the Early ABLES tool, assisting them to promote the use of Early ABLES by ECEC services.

Day 1: background and content of the Early ABLES tool to support educators to plan and provide a more personalised learning program for children aged 2-5 years with disabilities and/or developmental delay. Day 1 will be delivered by Department of Education and Training, for educators and Teams around the Educator.

Day 2: development of coaching skills (in collaboration with Semann Slattery & Associates) is for educators and optional for Teams Around the Educator.
