14 JulIt’s VIT teacher registration time – read the update from VIT

Posted on 14 Jul 2020

VIT has issued an update for Victorian Early Childhood Services regarding teacher registration. The key points are:

  • VIT is moving to one registration platform for all early childhood teachers and their employers to manage their registration requirements.
  • Early childhood teachers will be moved into the new system from 5pm Friday 17 July 2020 until 10am Monday 27 July 2020.
  • During this time MyVIT teacher accounts and the early childhood and employer portals will not be accessible while teacher registration data is being migrated into the new system.
  • The public register of teachers will still be available during this time so that you can confirm registration status.
  • At the same time that teachers are migrated into the new system, the early childhood portal (currently in use for early childhood teachers whose registration number starts with ‘1’, ‘2’, ‘3’ or ‘4’) will cease to operate. You will only need to access the employer portal to view and manage all of your early childhood teachers’ applications and registrations.

Note: annual registration tasks are due 30 September. After which time a late processing fee   applies. Early childhood teachers will start to receive invoices (via post and email) from 27 July 2020, staggered over three weeks. The invoice will contain instructions on how to access the new system and a guide on how to complete the annual registration process.

VIT encourages employers to make contact with VIT as soon as possible if you have outstanding teacher registration matters. Email vit@vit.vic.edu.au and include ’employer portal’ in the subject line to ensure VIT can assist you with priority. If you prefer to call, use the Early Childhood hotline on 1300 977 263.

However, before you email or call check the the FAQ section on the VIT website which provides the answers to most questions, including adjustments VIT has made to annual registration requirements to minimise the impacts of COVID-19 and assist teachers to maintain their registration.
