27 MaySenate Inquiry into COVID response

Posted on 27 May 2020

The Senate has established a Select Committee to inquire into the Australian government response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with a focus on the adequacy of the health and economic response.

ELAA is planning to make a submission, building on our submission to the one-month review of the ECEC Relief Package.

We are keen to hear from members about your issues in relation to Job Keeper and Exceptional Circumstances funding. As councils have not been able to apply for funding, we will be making clear the impacts on service provision for our LGA members as per our ECEC funding submission. Please feel free to email Lisa Minchin, Advocacy and Grants Lead (LMinchin@elaa.org,au) with any issues you would like raised. Feedback is needed by this Wednesday 27 May. We will also provide feedback on the health advice and challenges in its implementation. The closing date for submissions is 28 May 2020 with the committee to present its final report by 30 June.
