18 MarWant to know more about ‘Kinder Tick’?

Posted on 18 Mar 2021

Following the Victorian Government’s launch of the Kinder Tick initiative this month, the Department of Education and Training (DET) has further information on:
• the Kinder Tick state-wide advertising campaign
• additional tools to help services and staff explain the Kinder Tick to families
• new signage and promotional Kinder Tick items available for services to order.

State-wide advertising campaign

The Victorian Government has now started a state-wide advertising campaign to build awareness of the Kinder Tick among Victorian families.

The new advertising is appearing on digital, social, print, search, Koorie and multicultural channels, as well as in outdoor advertising locations such as bus shelters and shopping centres. It asks parents and carers to “look for the tick” when enrolling their child in a kindergarten program.

Knowing about the Kinder Tick is important for families ahead of enrolments opening for the 2022 kindergarten year. The new advertising campaign will be live until 30 June 2021.

The purpose of the advertising campaign is to increase awareness of the Kinder Tick among parents and carers of kindergarten-aged children, and, ultimately, to drive enrolment and participation in Victorian Government funded kindergarten programs in all settings.

Above all, the campaign recognises the professionalism and skills of staff at Victoria’s funded kindergarten services, and the importance of early childhood education.

Additional tools for teachers, educators and services

To assist teachers and educators in understanding purpose and value of the Kinder Tick initiative, DET has developed an explainer video and a set of talking points to help staff talk to families about the Kinder Tick.

These are available alongside other resources such as fact sheets, posters, flyers, social media posts and information about using the logo at www.education.vic.gov.au/kinder-tick-info

Signage and information materials

Signage was distributed to services with a funded kindergarten program last week. If your services has not yet received signage, you can email the Department for assistance on the email below.

Services with a funded program can now also order additional signage and information items, including stickers and printed posters at the Kinder Tick website for ordering. Orders are subject to approval and quantity limits. These materials are provided by DET at no cost to the service, noting that limits apply. To order, services will simply need to register to create a user profile.
