2017 McArthur Early Childhood Volunteer of the Year Awards

L-R: 2017 McArthur Early Childhood Volunteer of the Year Award winner – Genevieve Hammerton – with Tracie Burwash from McArthur

Celebrating a volunteer who makes a real difference

Rangeview Preschool Association (Mitcham) is very proud of Genevieve Hammerton who was announced as the 2017 McArthur Early Childhood Volunteer of the Year Award Winner at the ELAA Annual General Meeting on October 26.

Genevieve has been an inspiring volunteer for  Rangeview Preschool Association  for seven years – joining as a general member in 2011. In 2012 she became Association President, a role she held for four years, and during which she led Rangeview through a period of change including guiding the preschool through its first departmental assessment process. She ensured the service had the policies and procedures in place to achieve an “Exceeds Expectations” rating.

Genevieve also managed the process for Rangeview to move to a 15 hour four-year-old program and changes to staffing ratios. She also explored innovative funding ideas such as introducing a pre-three-year-old kinder session and built a partnership with the local council to establish a Bush Kinder program.

Genevieve also project managed the physical redevelopment of the preschool from a single room to a mutli-room facility.

Even though her children have all gone on to primary school, Genevieve still holds the position of Vice President  at Rangeview – to ensure a smooth transition for the incoming President – and is credited with injecting a culture of participation, contribution and celebration into the Rangeview community.

Well done Genevieve and thank you to our Preferred Early Learning Recruitment partner – McArthur – for supporting this Award.
