21 AugArrival: new kindergarten enrolment and attendance system from January 2025
What is Arrival?
Arrival is the new system set to replace the Kindergarten Information Management System (KIMS) starting January 2025.
It will oversee the collection and reporting of essential data for kindergartens, such as enrolments, educator details, and attendance information for sessional services.
Designed to improve data management, Arrival aims to boost kindergarten attendance and ensure that every Victorian child receives optimal early childhood education.
Updates for Annual Confirmation in 2025
From January 2025, services can start entering enrolment data into Arrival, which will handle all mandatory data collections, including the annual confirmation and the Annual Kindergarten Census.
Access to KIMS
KIMS will remain available in 2025 for:
- Funding information and reports
- SRF (School Readiness Funding) planning and reporting
- Second-year declarations
By 2026, Arrival is expected to manage all aspects, including funding reports and SRF planning.
Attendance Data Collection for Sessional Services
The rollout of attendance data collection for sessional services will occur in phases throughout 2025.
Long day care services will not be impacted, as they already report attendance through the Child Care Subsidy System.
Arrival will provide digital sign-in and sign-out features for sessional services to track and report attendance in accordance with National Law requirements.
The department is also working on integrating Arrival with existing digital attendance systems, with more information to follow soon.
Email Requirements for System Users
To enhance security, users will need to have an individual email address with a service/provider-based domain (e.g., tilly.smith@examplekinder.com.au) by November 2024.
Additional information and support regarding these new email requirements will be provided to services shortly.
