24 AprHumanAbility Vic roadshow confirms sector priorities
On Monday, 22 April, ELAA’s Senior Advisor Advocacy and Sector Engagement, Noah Hurst, and Policy and Advocacy Support Officer, Alessia Zugaro, had the pleasure of attending the 2024 HumanAbility Roadshow. HumanAbility are one of ten Jobs and Skills Councils funded to work with industry stakeholders to outline the needs of employers for future and current skills, develop qualifications and training packages that are responsive to and meet the needs of industry and lead workforce development initiatives.
The roadshow brought together colleagues from across sectors including; sport and recreation, aged care and disability, community services and health and children’s education and care to discuss workforce challenges and opportunities. The address from Human Ability CEO Emma King provided valuable insights into their role in supporting the sector and facilitating progress.
We were fortunate to hear from the Victorian Minister of Skills and TAFE Gayle Tierney on the Victorian governments workforce and training commitments to meet the needs of the rapidly growing care and support sector.
On Tuesday, 23 May, Noah also attended the Industry Advisory Committee meeting which started with a presentation and consultation with Impact Economics and Policy. Impact Economics and Policy are collaborating with HumanAbility to develop a Workforce Plan which will be presented to the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) later this year. Noah participated in strategic conversations with other Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) committee members to inform HumanAbility on changes to the sectors workforce, opportunities for improvement and specific advice for the review of the existing training package.
It is great for ELAA to be a part of these vibrant discussions on how we can better prepare and empower the workforce in ECEC.
