07 NovNew toolkit for identifying & taking action on family violence

Posted on 07 Nov 2024

New training and resources are now available to assist early childhood services in implementing the Information Sharing Schemes and the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) framework. These frameworks are essential in ensuring services can confidently share information to promote children’s safety and wellbeing while identifying and responding to family violence.

MARAM Training for Early Childhood Services

To meet the MARAM responsibilities, early childhood services should designate 2 to 3 nominated staff members who will handle family violence screening, safety planning, and referrals. It’s crucial to support these MARAM-nominated staff to attend newly available training sessions designed to help them fully understand their roles and responsibilities.

Updated Guidance and Tools for Implementing MARAM

Alongside the training, new guidance and tools have been developed to simplify the process of implementing the Information Sharing Schemes and MARAM framework.

Key updates include:

  • New chapters for service leaders, all staff, and nominated staff to meet MARAM responsibilities
  • Downloadable templates and tools for identifying and screening family violence, and developing basic safety plans
  • Revised chapters and tools for implementing the Information Sharing Schemes.
  • Designed to support the work early childhood staff already do to address family violence, helping them act in a consistent, safe, and informed manner.
