Bush Kinder in your own back yard

6 August, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm UTC+10

Children learning under the supervision of a kinder teacher

A built environment can never replicate a bush or nature space, however,  there are ways we can ensure that our services have elements of nature play that children have access to every day. In this session we will explore the benefits of nature play and loose parts and how to create opportunities for nature play within an early childhood setting.

In this session, practical ideas for designing spaces, choosing plants, storing loose parts and how to create successful natural spaces with minimal budget and gardening experience will be shared.

Examples of nature based play spaces in early childhood settings will be used to inspire participants and create opportunities for reflection and sharing of ideas. Other topics of discussion include identifying and planning for children’s learning in nature play settings and how to support families and the community to develop an understanding of the benefits of nature play.
