About the Centre/Service Bentleigh West Kindergarten Inc. (BWK) is a community-based Kindergarten with an open, friendly and caring environment that allows 3 and 4 Year Old children to learn, grow, develop and explore in their own way. Small class sizes support our creative, imaginative, active and stimulating activities both indoors and outdoors. Our BWK philosophy is embedded in the program, which provides opportunities for children to make choices, challenge their thinking, scaffold their learning and development, and that uses a range of intentional teaching areas to facilitate learning and exploring their world through play. BWK prides itself as being a parent-run Kindergarten. Our families play an active role in the overall management of the Kinder. This organisation promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children, including those with a disability, Aboriginal Children and culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds. BWK offers one 3 Year Old program (one session per week), two 4 Year Old programs (two sessions per week each) and has retained it's Exceeding level is our recent NQS assessment.

Description We are seeking an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher (Term 4 start) to join our Kindergarten - immediate start.  This part time position will 23hrs (Mon, Tues and Thursday) The successful candidate will have a strong emphasis on play-based learning with a commitment to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all children. They will have a current understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning  Framework, Early Childhood Education and Care Legislation and the Assessment and Rating Process. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with children, the committee of management (employer), the director, parents, other staff and professionals.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA recognised equivalent) or equivalent
Requirements VIT Registration
Additional Requirements VIT Registration and Police Check (Teachers).  Must hold an appropriate first aid training qualification, anaphylaxis management training, emergency asthma management training and Mandatory Reporting. Must have experience working with children. Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
