Posted on 22 Nov 2023

As the year comes to an end, Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services get busy with major cleaning, decluttering, and organising. This involves lifting and moving things, which can lead to injuries. To avoid this, it’s crucial to plan and assess the risks involved in these manual handling tasks.

WorkSafe provides resources to help. They offer a free program called Manual Handling Basics. These sessions cover OHS compliance, risk assessment, and control measures. Experts in ergonomics and OHS facilitate these sessions to provide information and advice.

You can find more information and register for the program by CLICKING HERE.

Additionally, WorkSafe has “Ask an Ergonomist” Q&A sessions for personalized advice AVAILABLE HERE.

WorkSafe has created a manual handling poster for the early childhood sector, available for download by CLICKING HERE.

If your service faces a Worker’s Compensation claim related to manual handling, it’s crucial to review and revise your risk assessments and control measures. More information on this can be found by CLICKING HERE.
