06 FebThe SAEW Project – free e-learning training

Posted on 06 Feb 2024

A key feature of the Skilling an Adaptable Early Childhood Education and Care Workforce (SAEW) Project is the e-learning training modules, developed to directly address the demands of the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector. There are 12 modules covering Teaching Pedagogy, Personal Skill Development, and Regulatory Frameworks. Supporting the e-learning is the SAEW Community Hub, an interactive online professional networking platform featuring additional training workshops, learning materials and resources, designed to create added value for SAEW Project participants.

Teaching Pedagogy

Teaching Pedagogy is the centrepiece of this e-learning resource and the training will build and define best practice in the ECEC sector. These modules will empower educators to be their best selves at work and manage their relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Collectively, this will give educators the tools to be well rounded professionals, able to create productive and safe learning environments for children. Supporting this e-learning, the SAEW Community Hub will provide additional resources for educators to maintain best practice and build their professional network with other ECEC professionals.

e-learning modules:

  • Relationships with families
  • Supporting children with additional needs
  • Trauma informed practice
  • Professional identity, ethics, and teaching philosophy
  • Intentionality in learning environments
  • Foundational practice:
    • The arts in practice
    • Routines and rhythms
    • Using digital technologies with children
    • Running a group time.

Personal Development

To complement teaching pedagogy, a range of Personal Development e-learning training modules have been developed to further enhance the skills of early childhood educators. This will allow educators to deliver best practice in the sector and proactively manage their personal wellbeing and relationships with colleagues. The SAEW Community Hub will complement the e-learning as educators will be able to engage with sector colleagues and create new and exciting career pathways within the sector.

e-learning modules:

  • Educator wellbeing
  • Working in a team.

Regulatory Frameworks

Regulatory Frameworks equip early childhood educators with the foundation to create and maintain a safe environment that prioritises the protection and wellbeing of children. By understanding the regulatory frameworks, early childhood educators will be able to recognise their personal responsibilities and embed key principles into their professional practice. Complementing the Regulatory Frameworks learning is the SAEW Community Hub which will provide a platform for participants to collaborate and discuss real and theoretical approaches to managing the regulatory framework.

e-learning modules:

  • Embedding the Child Safe Standards.

All the e-learning training modules have interactive elements including quizzes and real-world case studies to reinforce learning and to assist participants in applying the learning to educational settings.

Early signup will be available from Monday, 12 February for you to secure your free place in the SAEW Project. Keep an eye on ELAA Facebook and LinkedIn for the registration form link.
