Work Days of the Role
Monday and Tuesday (session times are 8.30am – 4.00pm) with additional day for planning time TBD with Educator.
Hours of Work of the Role
25.5 including additional time for weekly non-teaching duties. Additional hours for monthly staff and committee meetings
Description
We are seeking applicants for an Early Childhood Teacher for our Three-year-old group program. The successful candidate will work closely alongside the Three-year-old Kindergarten Educator and other staff to deliver a high-quality educational program for the children at Ferguson Park Preschool.
The position commences in Term 3, 2025 and is ongoing.
Role Objectives
- Develop and provide a high quality, developmentally appropriate educational program (based on an approved curriculum framework) for the children at Ferguson Park Pre-School in consultation with the Committee of Management (employer), Educational Leader and Nominated Supervisor, other staff, and the parents of children attending Ferguson Park Pre-School.
- Provide educational leadership while working as a member of a collaborative Pre-School team.
- Always operate in a professional manner and ensure that the Pre-School meets the requirements of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) Victorian kindergarten policy, procedures and funding criteria; Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010; Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 and functions in line with approved policies, procedures and the Quality Improvement Plan of Ferguson Park Pre-School.
- Be responsible to the Committee of Management (employer) for the development and delivery of the programs.
- Coordinate meetings and processes, involving educational staff, to design and deliver a high quality and diverse educational program based on appropriate curriculum frameworks and with reference to the NQS.
- Act in accordance with the authority delegated by the Committee of Management (employer) in dealing with situations of an urgent nature requiring immediate action, ensuring compliance with the Act and the Regulations.
- Operate within the requirements of the Pre-School’s policies and procedures, as well as funding and regulatory requirement, and the budget allocation.
- Be actively involved in the development and implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan of the service.
- Encourage enrolments and provide relevant written information and referrals in accordance with the Enrolment policy and procedures.
- Respect the confidentiality of information relating to parents and children and comply with the Pre-School’s Privacy policy.
- Other duties as directed by the Committee of Management from time-to-time, and the Nominated Supervisor/Educational Leader.
- Attend Professional Development opportunities and network meetings as appropriate or as directed, and report back on these events for knowledge sharing within the team.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service through reflective practice.
Qualifications
- Qualifications suitable for an Early Childhood Teacher under the Education and Care Services National Law. Education and Care Services National Regulations and the DET Kindergarten Funding Guide.
- Be registered as an Early Childhood Teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and continue to renew/maintain the registration during employment.
- Hold a Mandatory Reporting training certificate
- Hold a current:
- approved First Aid qualification,
- approved Anaphylaxis Management qualification and
- approved Emergency Asthma management qualification
