About the Centre/Service Crossway Preschool is situated in a busy part of Brighton, on Bunurong country, and runs a sessional four-year old kindergarten program, three-year old kindergarten program and an Activity group, with a Nature Play (Bush Kinder) program. The preschool has been part of the Brighton community for over 50 years. We provide a high quality and inclusive play-based educational program and believe it is important to provide a natural environment for children to learn in and explore, fostering an appreciation and connection with nature. Children’s ideas, interests and personal experiences are extended and explored.

Description Crossway Preschool is looking to employ a Diploma qualified Activity Group Leader to fill a fixed-term role commencing in Term 3, 21st July 2025. This role involves leading our Activity Group, which is an optional extra day of kindergarten for children attending our 4-year-old program. We have a well-established Nature Play Program (Bush Kinder) that is run as part of the Activity Group. The successful applicant will be required to have a commitment to and passion for supporting children to engage with nature, manage risk and engage in child directed play in a natural, open ended play environment. You will be well supported by our experienced team of Early Childhood Teachers who have developed the existing Nature Play program. There is a potential to increase hours and cover lunch breaks on additional days. There is also potential for Casual/Relief Work. Crossway Preschool staff are supported by a full-time Director who oversees the day-to-day administration and running of the preschool, together with members of the preschool Board. If you are a suitably qualified Early Childhood Educator who enjoys working and teaching in outdoor environments and are keen to join a very experienced team of early childhood professionals, with supportive management, in a kind and welcoming community, then we would love to hear from you. Additional Requirements To be successful, you need to also: • Demonstrate experience in early childhood education and working in a small and supportive team environment. • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills. • Demonstrate understanding of the VEYLDF, NQF and active contribution in the implementation of the QIP. • Demonstrate ability to contribute to planning and delivering a high-quality educational program. • Demonstrate experience in or knowledge of planning an educational Nature Play program, based on approved learning frameworks and the developmental needs, interests and experiences of children, taking into account individual differences. • Have a current Protecting Children – Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations for the Early Childhood Sector training certificate. • Have current first aid and CPR training, emergency management of asthma and anaphylaxis training.
