Educators are required to collect documentation about each child but often feel it is a burden. This seminar aims to provide you with motivation and inspiration so that this task is seen as a powerful way of building a stronger relationship with each child and family as well as giving you information that assists in planning.

The seminar will explore:

• Various methods for collecting information about children that align with the EYLF and VEYLDF and will help you meet the revised NQS
• ways to work smarter, not harder, and use your time productively
• how to assess the information that is collected to help understand and plan for each child
• making children’s learning visible for them and their families.

Participants will be encouraged to share their current methods of documenting each child’s learning and to reflect on whether they might need to make further quality improvements in their approaches and processes.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Heather Barnes works as an early childhood consultant throughout Australia. Heather’s career has included teaching in kindergartens, higher education and TAFE, and working for the National Childcare Accreditation Council, local government and Gowrie Victoria. She currently presents at conferences, delivers workshops and provides mentoring for individual services. Heather was involved in the original training of Assessors and assisted Regulatory Authorities in several states and territories as part of the National Quality Framework. She is a Life Member of Gowrie Victoria; a member of the Victorian Children’s Council and was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2015 for services to early childhood education.
