Dr. Lyn O’Grady leads this session designed to help professionals enhance their communication skills when dealing with a range of difficult conversations

This session will:
- explore what makes a conversation difficult
- identify types of potentially difficult conversations within the early childhood setting, including with children, parents and colleagues
- use an emotional intelligence model to plan for effectively managing difficult conversations
- explore key communication skills required to managing difficult conversations
- tips, tools and strategies to enhance relationships.
Presenter: Dr Lyn O’Grady
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Dr Lyn O’Grady is an experienced Community Psychologist with particular interests in the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people, families and professionals. She has worked with parents in parenting programs, individually at the community level and in schools for over 20 years. Lyn also worked as a School Psychologist in the Western Metropolitan Region of Melbourne and is supervisor of psychology interns. At a more systemic level, she is a project manager with the Australian Psychological Society, and was their national manager for Kids Matter for six years.
