This two hour session will instruct you in having conversations with children and parents about keeping children safe. Topics covered include protective behaviours in how to talk about ‘safe’ and ‘unsafe’ feelings and touching; types of safety, stranger danger, children’s own private places, body signals and communication.

At the completion the training, participants will be able to:

• state how to assist children to recognise body signals and feelings
• state how to be proactive in preventing child sexual abuse
• develop strategies to help children communicate about their concerns, worries and feelings
• identify how to minimise opportunities for harm to occur to children
• confidently teach children to identify what is safe and not safe
• list strategies to help children recognise body signals and talk about their feelings.
