Lady Forster Kindergarten is a 49-place, community-managed, not for profit, kindergarten located right on the foreshore of Elwood Beach, providing high quality kindergarten programs for 3-5 year olds in both sessional and long-day programs. Rated as ‘Exceeding’ the National Quality Standard in all 7 quality areas, the kindergarten has a rich 100-year history and provides programs that immerse children in their natural surroundings including weekly beach/bush excursions on country.

Description
About the role
Working with the Kindergarten Manager and Committee of Management, your responsibilities include:
- Nominated Supervisor and Responsible Person In Charge of the service
- Pedogogical leader of a play-based curriculum with a strong outdoors focus
- Inspiring educational leadership of a team of 2 teachers and 8 educators with capability building through professional development and networks
- Leadership of the assessment and planning cycle with thorough documentation
- Management of the Kindergarten Quality Improvement Plan’ (QIP)
- Implementation of the new DE ‘Early Years Assessment and Learning Tool’ (EYALT)
- Implementation of the 2023 SRF Plan and development of the 2024 Plan
- Fostering an environment of collaboration, respect, inclusiveness, and connection
- Supporting the service for future rating and assessment at ‘Excellent’ level
- All staff management functions including recruitment, staff arrangement/rosters and annual performance management cycle.
- Working within our kindergarten ‘above ratio’ to guide and mentor best practice in situ amongst our team.
- 5-10 years’ experience in an Educational Leader role
- Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education and Care (ACECQA recognised qualifications)
- VIT teacher registration (No direct teaching responsibility required but engagement across all programs 'on floor' required for approx. 50% of week with backfilling of shifts if required)
- Strong knowledge of the National Law and National Regulations; Early Years Learning Frameworks; National Quality Standards and Child Safe Standards.
- Exceptional knowledge of safety and wellbeing.
- Experienced in leading change in education and delivery of a high-quality program and practice.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (high level documentation skills)
- Proven team leadership skills.
- Proven ability to form collaborative and respectful connections with children, staff, families and community.
- Experience in HR staff functions including recruitment, staff arrangement/cover, rostering and performance management.
- Post-graduate studies in Pedagogy
- Qualification in Mentorship of VIT registered Provisional Teachers
- Previous experience working for a highly-rated and assessed kindergarten service
- Previous experience in inclusion support.
- Fixed term contract to June 2024 (with possibility of extension)
